Flirt is a Turkish rock band formed in Istanbul in 2000. It consists of Ozan Kotra, Ata Akdağ, Çağatay Amber and Kutay Bür.
Although Singles, which forms the basis of Flirting, was founded in 1991, the history of the group can be traced back to 1989, when Ozan Kotra and Ata Akdağ met in high school. Their interest and curiosity for the legendary The Beatles group crossed the paths of these two young people, and enabled them to take the first steps on the path to founding a group and songwriting. Münir Tireli, known for his reviews and books on Turkish music groups, describes this meeting as follows: “The story of the band begins with the meeting of Ozan Kotra and Ata Akdağ, who are studying at the same school, following an İzzet Öz program (probably Telescope) they watched on TRT in 1989. In this program, İzzet Öz released the Beatles’ song Come Together and was instrumental in meeting two young people who had the effect of this song on their minds. 1989 is also the year that Ata Akdağ lost his father in a traffic accident. Flört’s song “His Name Is Hasan”, included in the first album, was written in honor of this tragic event.
Today, while the fan base continues to increase rapidly, concerts and projects continue at full speed.
